# Template Variables

> Complete reference of dynamic placeholders for welcome messages, leave logs, and greet embeds.

Falcon supports dynamic template variables across welcome announcements, departure logs, and custom embeds. Variables automatically resolve to live server and user values when an event triggers.

  You can test any message containing dynamic variables instantly without waiting for a new member to join by typing `-testmessage join`.

## Member Variables

Variables representing the incoming or departed member:

| Variable | Description | Example Output |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `$member_name` | The username of the member | `Alex` |
| `$member_mention` | Clickable mention tag of the member | `@Alex` |
| `$member` | Full username and discriminator/handle | `Alex#0001` |
| `$member_id` | Unique 18-digit Discord snowflake ID | `123456789012345678` |
| `$member_avatar` | Direct URL to member profile avatar image | `https://cdn.discordapp.com/...` |
| `$join_time` | Formatted timestamp of when the member joined | `Oct 11, 2026, 7:30 PM` |

## Inviter & Invite Stats Variables

Variables related to the inviter who brought the member into your server:

| Variable | Description | Example Output |

| `$inviter_name` | Username of the inviter | `Sarah` |
| `$inviter_mention` | Clickable `@mention` of the inviter | `@Sarah` |
| `$inviter_id` | Discord ID of the inviter | `987654321012345678` |
| `$inviter_avatar` | Direct URL to inviter's profile avatar | `https://cdn.discordapp.com/...` |
| `$invites` | Inviter's net regular invite count | `15` |
| `$regular_invites` | Total regular invites currently active | `18` |
| `$fake_invites` | Number of detected fake or alt invites | `2` |
| `$left_invites` | Number of invited members who left | `3` |
| `$bonus_invites` | Bonus invites manually added by staff | `5` |
| `$invite_code` | Specific invite code used to join | `falcon-lounge` |

## Server & Guild Variables

Variables representing server metadata and population stats:

| `$guild_name` | Name of your Discord server | `Falcon Community` |
| `$guild_id` | Unique 18-digit Discord server ID | `112233445566778899` |

| `$member_count` | Total current server population count | `2,450` |
| `$ordinal_member_count` | Ordinal position of the member | `2,450th` |

## Usage Examples

### 1. Join Announcement Template

Used with `-setjoinmessage` in the invite logging module:

-setjoinmessage Welcome $member_mention to $guild_name! You were invited by $inviter_mention (now at $invites invites). You are our $ordinal_member_count member!
```

### 2. Departure Log Template

Used with `-setleavemessage` to track departing members:

```bash Example theme={null}
-setleavemessage Goodbye $member_name. They were originally invited by $inviter_name.
```

### 3. Greet Welcome Template

Bind your target channel in Discord, then configure your template text and rich embeds in the [Falcon Dashboard](https://www.falconbot.app/dashboard):
