# Quickstart Guide

> Get Falcon fully set up on your Discord server in a few simple steps.

Follow this guide to invite Falcon, position role permissions, and configure automated welcome channels, invite tracking, greetings, and custom prefixes.

## 1. Invite Falcon to your server

Add Falcon to your server using the official Discord OAuth2 authorization portal:

<Card title="Add Falcon to Discord" icon="discord" href="https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize">
  Authorize Falcon with Administrator or Manage Server permissions.
</Card>

<Warning>
  Ensure you hold either the **Administrator** or **Manage Server** permission on the server you are adding Falcon to.
</Warning>

***

## 2. Configure role hierarchy

In Discord, bot actions and moderation commands are strictly bound by role order:

1. Open your Discord server: **Server Settings** > **Roles**.
2. Click and drag the **Falcon** role above your member, helper, and muted roles.
3. Ensure Falcon has permissions to **Manage Roles**, **Kick/Ban Members**, and **Manage Channels**.

<Tip>
  Falcon cannot ban, kick, or timeout members whose highest role is equal to or higher than Falcon's own role.
</Tip>

***

## 3. Configure invite logging & welcome alerts

Direct new arrival notices and invite tracking logs to your public welcome lounge:

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash Syntax theme={null}
  -setjoinchannel (channel)
  ```

  ```bash Example theme={null}
  -setjoinchannel #welcome
  ```
</CodeGroup>

Customize the join announcement using dynamic template variables (e.g. `{inviter}`, `{invites}`, `{user}`):

```bash Example theme={null}
-setjoinmessage Welcome {user} to the server! Invited by {inviter} ({invites} invites).
```

<Tip>
  You can preview your welcome card immediately without waiting for someone to join by typing `-testmessage join`.
</Tip>

***

## 4. Set up multi-channel greetings

Falcon's Greet module broadcasts automated welcome announcements across up to 3 separate channels (unlimited on Premium):

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash Syntax theme={null}
  -greet (channel)
  ```

  ```bash Example theme={null}
  -greet #welcome
  ```
</CodeGroup>

<Tip>
  **Customizing the Welcome Message**: After designating your channel with `-greet #channel`, customize the greeting message, embed layouts, colors, and auto-delete timers directly on the [Falcon Dashboard](https://www.falconbot.app/dashboard).
</Tip>

To view all supported variables inside greeting text (such as `$member_mention`, `$member_count`, `$guild_name`), type `-greetvariables` or check the [Template Variables reference](/commands/variables).

## 5. Customize your server prefix

Falcon's default prefix is `-`. If you wish to use another trigger symbol, customize it for your server anytime:

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash Syntax theme={null}
  -setprefix (prefix)
  ```

  ```bash Example theme={null}
  -setprefix !
  ```
</CodeGroup>

You can check the active server prefix by typing `-prefix`, or reset it back to default with `-deleteprefix`.

***

## 6. Explore commands & interactive help

Browse Falcon's commands and features interactively in Discord:

```bash Example theme={null}
-help
```

Use the interactive dropdown menu in Discord to switch between **Invite Logging**, **Messages Tracker**, **Greet System**, **Giveaways**, **Timer**, **Moderation**, **Polls**, and **Utility**.
